RTE Admission School 2024-25: The admission list for the All State Right to Education (RTE) School for the academic year 2024-2025 is presently being compiled as part of the ongoing 25 percent RTE admission School process across all states.
The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, commonly known as the Right to Education Act (RTE), was enacted by the Parliament of India on 4 August 2009. This legislation underscores the importance of providing cost-free and obligatory education to children aged 6 to 14 in India, in accordance with Article 21a of the Indian Constitution.
The Act establishes education as a fundamental right for all children in this age bracket and outlines essential benchmarks for primary educational establishments. It requires private schools to reserve 25% of their seats for children, admission being determined by economic circumstance or considerations related to caste.
Universal Elementary Education (UEE) in India
The role of Universal Elementary Education (UEE) for strengthening the social fabric of democracy through provision of equal opportunities to all has been accepted since the inception of our Republic. With the formulation of National Policy on Education (NPE), India initiated a wide range of programmes for achieving the goal of UEE through several schematic and programme interventions. The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is being implemented as India’s main programme for universalizing elementary education. Its overall goals include universal access and retention, bridging of gender and social category gaps in education, and enhancement of learning levels of children.
SSA provides for a variety of interventions, including, for example, opening and construction of new schools, hiring additional teachers, regular teacher in-service training, academic resource support to ensure free textbooks, uniforms, and free support for improving learning outcomes. The Right to Free & Compulsory Education Act 2009 further solidifies the commitment to ensuring that every child in India has access to quality education, irrespective of their background or socio-economic status.
