TN RTE EWS and DG 2025-26 Lottery Process
There will be no lottery draw system for enrolling within the available vacancy seats for selecting the candidates applying under RTE 25 admission in Tamil Nadu. However, this does not mean that the process will be free from challenges. Every school will undoubtedly receive multiple applications from children seeking admission under the EWS and DG categories, particularly for Class-1 or LKG. As a result, a Draw of Lot system must be implemented to fairly select children for RTE 25 admission.
To ensure transparency and equal opportunity, each school will establish a committee tasked with overseeing the Draw of Lot event on the school premises in the presence of all applicants’ parents. This committee will include two parents of the applicants to further uphold fairness. Following the lottery draw event, the first selection list will be promptly displayed on the school’s notice board and uploaded to their official website to keep all stakeholders informed.

The online application for the TN RTE School Admission for the academic year 2025-26 can be conveniently completed through the following step-by-step guide:
- Access the application portal by logging in at https://rteadmission.tnschools.gov.in.
- Initiate the application process by selecting “Start Application” and providing the required information and document uploads.
- Enter personal details as per the form instructions, ensuring correct document references, and save the information for each section. A confirmation SMS will be sent upon successful registration.
- Input parent/guardian details according to the specified format and save the data.
- Update the residential address or specify a nearby landmark for easy identification on the map. Submit the details and save the information.
- Upon saving, a confirmation message will be displayed, allowing address modifications if necessary.
- Upload the necessary documents after updating the address and save the changes.
- Following document submission, a list of available schools for selection will be presented. Choose preferred schools and save the selections.
- Once schools are selected, relevant details will be generated. Click on the final submission button to proceed.
- Confirm the submission by clicking on the submit button to finalize the application process.
A confirmation SMS will be sent to the registered mobile number to acknowledge successful submission.
TN RTE School Admission 2025-26: Required Documents
Kindly ensure that digital copies of the required documents listed below are uploaded. In addition to the online submission, physical copies must be provided to the school at the time of admission. The necessary documents are as follows:
- Student Photo: The dimensions must be Width-150px, Height-175px, and the image size should not exceed 100 KB.
- Proof of Birth of student: Only JPG / JPEG files are accepted with a maximum size of 1 MB.
- Parent ID (Father or Mother or Guardian): Only JPG / JPEG files are acceptable with a maximum size of 1 MB.
- Address Proof: Acceptable formats are JPG / JPEG with a maximum size of 1MB. Valid options include:

TN RTE School Admission 2025-26: LKG & Class-1 Certificates Required
Applicants for LKG and Class-1 seeking admission under the Tamil Nadu RTE for the year 2025-26 must provide relevant certificates as part of the online registration process. These required certificates can be obtained from the specified Competent Authorities as outlined below:

- Certificate for Transgender individuals: Issued by a Medical Officer authorized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
- Children of Scavenging workers employed by local bodies: Authorized by the respective Commissioners or Executive officers of corporations, municipalities, town panchayats, and village panchayats.
- Children of Scavenging workers not employed by local bodies: Authorization to be given by the District Collector or the designated authority appointed by the District Collector.
