AICPIN June 2024: The All India Consumer Price Index Numbers (AICPIN) for the month of June 2024 are set to be released, as per the advance release calendar issued by the Labour Bureau, on the 31st of July 2024, which falls on a Wednesday. This important data will be made available on the official Labour Bureau website (labourbureau.gov.in) and will play a crucial role in determining the Dearness Allowance (DA) for all groups of Central Government employees, including pensioners and family pensioners, as well as Army Personnel, Ex-Servicemen, and Railway staff and officers.
The AICPIN figures for June 2024 hold significant weight in calculating the adjustments in allowances that take effect from July 2024, as it follows the completion of the previous month’s tenure, which was finalized in December 2023 for the Dearness Allowance that became applicable from 1st January 2024. AICPIN June 2024: Hike in DA for Government Employees
The Dearness Allowance, a crucial financial support for individuals, is being hiked once every six months for both existing and retired central government employees, a practice that has been in place for a significant period of time. This allowance, which is designed to help offset the rising cost of living, is meticulously calculated in two distinct periods: from January to June and from July to December, following a specific formula prescribed by the 7th Pay Commission, which aims to ensure that employees’ compensation keeps pace with inflation.
The exact percentage for the first installment of the Dearness Allowance is determined based on calculations made during the July to December period and is then disbursed starting from the 1st of January. Meanwhile, the precise percentage for the second installment is calculated during the January to June window and is subsequently provided to employees beginning on the 1st of July, ensuring that both current and retired workers receive timely adjustments to their earnings as economic conditions evolve.
