Rituals on Shani Jayanti 2024
Today marks a significant occasion, as a unique Shani Shanti Pooja and ritual are orchestrated, traditionally conducted either at a Navagraha or Shani Temple. In the ceremony, the effigies of Lord Shani and his companion, the Vulture, are ritually cleansed with a sequence of offerings including honey, mustard oil infused with mole seeds, fermented curd, and Gangajal. Some adherents, moved by their beliefs, present a necklace adorned with nine precious gemstones (Navratna haar).
Participants engage in the Shani Pooja, chanting Shani Stotra, Shani Chalisa, or Shanti Path to invite harmony and bliss into their lives. Furthermore, observing the propitious occasion of Shani Jayanti and reciting the Shani dev mantra is believed to mitigate the adverse influence of Saturn on one’s astrological sign.
