Accurate and timely data form the backbone of effective planning and decision-making, enabling educational institutions to achieve their objectives and cater to their communities efficiently.
To realize this vision, establishing a well-operating Sustainable Educational Management Information System is crucial today. Such a system allows stakeholders to access essential information that fosters improvement and accountability in the education sector. UDISE+ stands out as one of the largest Management Information Systems launched by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This expansive system encompasses over 14.89 lakh schools, 95 lakh teachers, and an impressive 26.5 crore students, making it an invaluable tool for enhancing and understanding the educational landscape throughout the country.
UDISE Plus: SDMS (Student Database Management System)
The Student Database Management System, or SDMS for short, is an advanced and highly effective tool crafted to oversee a wide range of student-related records. This includes essential data such as in-depth student profiles, enrollment details, dropout statistics, transfer records, and information on academic progress or setbacks, among other critical metrics. This remarkable system not only streamlines the creation of detailed reports for various levels of administration—ranging from Central and State to districts, blocks, and individual schools—but also enriches the overall experience of managing education.
Beyond its reporting functions, the SDMS acts as a powerful data management solution, allowing for the effortless storage, updating, processing, analysis, and sharing of student data. Its intuitive interface makes it easy for educators and administrators to access and handle student information without unnecessary complications. Additionally, the system’s custom search features significantly enhance the ability to track student records efficiently, enabling quick access to essential information.
The system boasts a comprehensive approach, encompassing a variety of student information pertinent to all levels of school education. This includes data sourced from multiple educational boards, school management organizations, independent bodies, vocational programs, and open schooling students. Crucially, the Student Database Management System operates in a federated manner, offering distinct instances that cater to the specific needs of various states, autonomous entities, and school management systems. This structure allows each organization to effectively manage its unique data requirements while the SDMS aggregates and integrates information from these diverse sources, forming a unified database that aids in educational advancement and policy development.

UDISE Plus: How to find UDISE number?
Finding your UDISE number is an easy task! In the Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE), your school’s UDISE code acts like a username, and the password is provided by the block MIS coordinator. If you don’t have a UDISE code, you can sign up on the SDMS portal to generate one. After you register, the Block Education Officer (BEO) will group your school into a cluster and give you verification information, which will lead to a temporary U-DISE code being issued. This code grants you access to various details about any school. However, keep in mind that these codes can be hard to remember because they consist of around 13 characters.
If you happen to forget your school’s U-DISE number, there’s no need to worry! You can easily find any school’s U-DISE code at any time on the government website src.udiseplus.gov.in.
To find your school’s UDISE number, you have a couple of options at your disposal. The first option is to head over to the homepage where you can enter your school’s UDISE alongside its PIN code. Once you input the PIN, you’ll receive an extensive report detailing all the schools in that vicinity, making it easy to retrieve your school’s data. Alternatively, you can follow the steps below:
Step 1: Launch your web browser and navigate to src.udiseplus.gov.in.
Step 2: Identify the ‘Locate School’ tab.
Step 3: Click on it, and a search form will pop up with various fields for you to complete.
Tip: It’s advisable to fill out as many fields as possible about your school, including Academic Year, State, District, Block, Cluster, and Village.
Step 4: Finally, hit the Search button found beneath the form. Please be patient, as the search duration can vary based on your internet connection and the information you’ve provided.
