Tamil Nadu Paramedical 2024-25: Method of Normalization

Candidates who have finished an equivalent examination will need to meet a specific minimum eligibility mark, which will be calculated through the normalization method. As per the regulations outlined in the Tamil Nadu Act No. 3 of 2007, dated 05.03.2007, and G.O(Ms) No.77 of the Higher Education (J2) Department, dated 05.04.2007, students’ scores in relevant subjects from qualifying exams held by different Boards or Authorities will be adjusted to match those of students in the same subjects in qualifying exams administered by the State Board of Tamil Nadu.

Normalization Method for Tamil Nadu Paramedical Admissions 2024-25: To illustrate the normalization procedure, consider this scenario: A student under the jurisdiction of the State Board attains a perfect score of 100 in Physics, while a student from a different educational board secures the highest mark of 90 in the same subject. In order to standardize the scores, both results will be adjusted to align with a score of 100. For instance, if a student from the alternative board obtains a score of 60 in Physics, with 90 being the highest attainable mark in that particular board, the original score of 60 will be normalized to 66.66 using the following formula: (100 x 60) / 90 = 66.66%.

TN Paramedical 2024-25: How to Calculate Merit Marks?

In the Tamil Nadu Paramedical Admission process for the academic year 2024-2025, the method for calculating Merit Marks involves the normalization of scores from the qualifying examinations conducted by various Boards. Subsequently, the eligible students from different Boards will be consolidated into a unified merit list.

The calculation of marks is as follows: The Merit List will be established based on the marks achieved by eligible candidates in the specified subjects of the qualifying exams, which will be adjusted to a base of 200 marks. Marks obtained from diverse Boards will be considered post-normalization. Calculation Procedure as follows:

  1. Weighted Total Marks out of a maximum of 200.
  2. Percentage in Biology (normalized) denoted as X.
  3. Percentage in Physics and Chemistry combined (normalized) denoted as Y.
  4. Percentage in Botany and Zoology combined (normalized) denoted as Z.
  5. Percentage in Mathematics (normalized) denoted as W.
  6. Weighted total marks out of a maximum of 200, calculated as either (X+Y) or (Z+Y) or (W+Y).
  7. The percentage and weighted total should be precise to two decimal places.

Additionally, candidate ranking will be determined by the total marks obtained in the prescribed subjects following the normalization process, scaled to a maximum of 200 marks.
