Chandra Darshan Date and Time 2024

(The First Moon) Chandra Darshan Date and Time 2024

The Hindu faith reveres the Moon, known as Chandra, as a deity with a history of worship dating back to ancient times. Chandra holds a prominent position among the Navgraha, the nine planets of Vedic Astrology, governing the realms of the mind and emotions. Chandra Darshan, quite literally translated as “Moon sighting,” marks the occasion when the Moon emerges in the sky after the darkness of the New Moon, falling on the day following Amavasya. This event occurs monthly, akin to Amavasya, as the Moon rises briefly just after sunset.

For Hindus, witnessing the Moon on Chandra Darshan day holds profound religious significance and is often viewed as auspicious. Devotees believe that honoring Chandra Dev on this day brings blessings of prosperity, peace, and joy. Many followers choose to observe a fast starting from dawn until the Moon’s appearance, engaging in the Chandra Darshan pooja before breaking their fast. Married women, in particular, observe this fast in hopes of ensuring their husbands’ longevity and fostering a harmonious marital union.
